I keep walking
This same path
Knowing it leads me
To nowhere
But misery

I need to find
The strength
To turn right
Instead of left

But I know
That if I do
I’m closing
The only door
To you

I guess I’ve known
That door
Was never open
But still
I kept trying
To walk that path
That lead to nowhere

You and I
We were like
A half finished sketch
Never quite complete
Maybe because
We were scared
That the reality of us
Could never be as beautiful
As the idea of us

And so eventually
We put the drawing away
Only to be pulled out
Now and then
To imagine how beautiful
It might have been
